Mr. Byrd has dedicated his career to the Military, Academia, Government, and Profit/Nonprofit organizations in the areas of Operations, Training, and Leadership Development. He has over 20 years of distinguished service with the United States Air Force (USAF) as an Operational Resource Manager (ORM) serving both domestically and internationally.
In addition, he has held positions as both a federal employee as Training Specialist with the Space Warfare Center in Colorado and as a government contractor as Senior Training Analyst/Facilitator for Homeland Defense with NORAD and US Northern Command/J7.
In the Non-Profit industry he led a Staff Development Department as the Global Staff Development Director serving in 27 countries and offering leadership and management courses to over 2200 employees while providing leadership oversight to both the Learning Management System (LMS) and the Performance Management Program (PMP).
In addition to Mike’s extensive government experience, he has served as Director of College of Adult and Graduate Studies for Colorado Christian University (CCU) and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member for the Leadership and Management undergraduate programs where he has held faculty status for the last 16 years. He was recently selected as the Distinguished Faculty Member of the Year Award for 2010 for the Colleges of Adult and Graduate Studies.
Mike has also served as an Executive Director for all Human Capital functions while leading and managing all personnel and staff processes for 72 personnel.
During Mike’s successful career with the military he completed assignments with the USAF in Europe, and augmented the Inspector General (IG) Team at Ramstein AB in Germany inspecting all Operations Resource Management functions for the military throughout Europe. Additionally, he deployed with the Airlift Control Element Team (ALCE) during Operation Desert Shield/Storm serving a tour of duty in Southwest Asia.
His assignments included the 64th Flying Training Wing, Reese AFB, TX, 97th Bombardment Wing, Blytheville AFB, AR, 3320th, Lowry AFB, CO, 20th Tactical Fighter Wing, RAF Upper Heyford, UK, the 437th Military Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base, SC and the United States Air Force Academy, CO, as Operations Superintendent for the Cadet Wing.
His military service awards include the Meritorious Service Medal United States Air Force Commendation Medal, United States Air Force Achievement Medal, Combat Readiness Medal, SW Asia Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Mike has most recently held professional memberships with the nationally recognized American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Mike is certified as an Executive Coach and Trainer for ‘The Power of Full Engagement’, as well as trainer and facilitator for ‘Strengths Finder 2.0’, ‘Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI)’, ‘Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI)’, and ‘Leadership Effectiveness Adaptability Design (LEAD)’.
He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Human Resources and a Masters of Arts Degree in Human Communication with an emphasis in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Mike has been married for 37 years and has four children.
